Daily Mail 2.0 - Fuck Off Now!

Has anyone else noticed the massive increase in "turd drop news bites" that have been appearing and then receiving Diggs, thus appearing on the front page from the trash paper come "reliable" online news source, The Daily Mail?

Amongst the many RSS feeds I subscribe to, Digg is one of my most read. Unfortunately, some scroat at the Daily Mail has been able to work out how to add the Java plugin onto their website (they're not alone obviously... I don't claim it was difficult to add but I did manage to hack the Drupal plugin to add another 24 social sites).

Offline I can avoid the trite they publish. Sensationalised lies brainwashing a nation of idiots gullible enough to believe them, but now they've polluted Digg with this trash I now need to find a way to block it out in a more ingenious manner. Technology fighting technology if you will.

I have found no way of indirectly blocking the headlines on their website which is a real shame. Someone really needs to code a way of customise your own RSS feed from Digg headlines and bar certain websites from it.

Just in case you wondered about some of the "brilliant" articles that found their way to Digg from The Daily Mail, here are a few samples of their titles :

  • Girl, 15, 'filmed herself trying to kill her parents - trying to kill? Typical of the shock journalism of their papers...

  • BBC presenter threatened with a gun during film about safety - oh the mother fucking irony!

  • Caught: 100-Year-Old Monster Fish Weighing Over 35-Stone - I'd be surprised if this wasn't front page news on their printed news too..

  • Goth who walks girlfriend on leash is told "No Dogs Allowed" - ridiculing goths is funny, apart from when The Daily Mail has a hand in it.

  • Is Lipstick Giving Women Bigger Boobs? - seriously, the scientific link here must've gone "how can we get a picture of a woman with big tits on the website?" then think of something to blame, then pose it as a question so it's not a complete fabrication. Cunts
  • I'm counting the days before the monkeys who do The Suns' website borrow the Digg code.. then we're truly in for some great front page news! :|

    Several reports have come

Several reports have come forward claiming Digg has been trying to sell itself to a larger company since early 2006. While Adelson claims that Digg will meet with any potential buyers, he denies that they will actively begin talks for a sale.
